Susan and I were extremely saddened to hear of Ewing's passing. We treasured our brief time we spent with your family when we made an emergency landing on your ranch airstrip in the late '80's. His kindness and generosity allowing us to keep the airplane at the ranch until we could replace the engine was a true example of aviator brotherhood.
We felt blessed to have met him in our travels.

Cathy and family:
May God grant you peace and comfort during this difficult time. Mackey was a great and wonderful man. I will always remember him flying me to Dallas, Texas for the birth of our first son. May God give you and your girls strength, peace of heart and comfort as you move forward day by day. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Love John and Darlene Biar

The few times I had the privilege to ride with Mackey I knew I was more safe than I was as a baby in my cradle. Mackey was the best chopper pilot I have ever met and that included my time in Viet-Nam.
God be with you all at this time.

I remember the time one of the ranchers wanted to put handhelds on his sheep dogs so that he could control them from long range. He didn't like the price of the walkie talkies so Mackey and I came up with voice pagers and a pouch for the dogs Collars. Mackey came back with the funniest story ever! It seems the rancher and the dogs were driving sheep across a road between two pastures when a small car came up to one of the dogs on the road. The lady that was driving pulled to a halt, rolled down the window and apparently struck up a conversation with the hard working pup.
The cowboy, wanting to apologize for delaying her travels, spoke through the dogs pager, "sorry for the delay ma'am, we will be out of your way as soon as I get the last one through the gate."
The cowboy was in the process of closing the gate when he noticed that the car hadn't moved. The woman had fainted.
Mackey and I had a lot of fun back in the radio days and was a dear friend.
May God bless Cathy, the girls, and the whole McEntire clan.
