Obituary

Lee Thomas Moorhead, 57, a longtime Williston resident, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2005, in Williston. Lee Thomas Moorhead was born October 7, 1947 in Williston, ND to Robert S. and Clarice (Anseth) Moorhead. He was raised in Williston, attended Williston schools, and graduated from Williston High School with the Class of 1967. He served in the US Army and began his service stationed at Fort Lewis in Washington state. He served with E Troop of the 1st Cavalry, 11th Brigade in Vietnam as a ""TC', Track Commander. On May 18, 1968 he was united in marriage to Devona Wilder. For many years following the war, he worked for Commercial Builders. He also operated on his own, doing various construction work: roofing, painting, and constructing metal buildings. After the 1997 flood in Grand Forks, he involved himself in the cleanup as a partner in Kenwood Decorators. Lee loved learning about local history, analyzing the way things worked and making new discoveries. Hunting, fishing and camping with his family were always a priority. And, he especially loved spending time with his granddaughter, Miah Joy. He is survived by Devona Moorhead of Williston; son, Michael Moorhead and his friend, Tammy Ruf, of Sterling, CO; daughter, Teri Mitson and husband, Matt, of Williston; three grandchildren; his two sisters, Molly Glimm and husband, Frank, of Zahl and Mary Redding and husband, Steve, of Bismarck, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Lee in death were his parents, Bob and Clarice, and two brothers, Roman and Samuel Moorhead. His funeral was celebrated Thursday morning, January 27, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church. Rev. Rod Tkach officiated. Interment followed in Riverview Cemetery. Military Rites were conducted by the Ross E. French V.F.W. Post #2328 Color Guard & Firing Squad. The Everson Funeral Home of Williston assisted the family with arrangements.
