Delores Delvaux
Green Bay - Delores Theresa Delvaux, 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 14, 2018. She was born to the late Frances (Van Lanen) and Anton Peters in New Franken on March 6, 1935. Delores attended grade school in New Franken and graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in Green Bay. After graduation, Delores worked six years as a Teletype Operator and Billing Typist for Olson Transportation. She also worked six years as an Avon Representative and Team Leader. Delores excelled in her work for the Green Bay Public School District in the Administration offices as a Hearing Testing Technician and Secretary in Special Education for the Speech/Language, Gifted and Talented program; seven years later was secretary for the Hearing Impaired; Visually Impaired; and Early Childhood:EEN programs, retiring after 21 years. In retirement, Delores remained active and involved becoming a Porcelain Artist and Entrepreneur. She opened her own studio in 1996. Some of her porcelain pieces were sent as far as Holland and Italy. Her porcelain pieces and glass lamps will be cherished in many homes for years.
Delores married Arland Delvaux at St. Kilian's Catholic Church in New Franken. They had two sons, David "Dave" and Randal "Randy." Delores enjoyed fishing and boating and time spent at the cottage with family and friends. Faith, family, and friends were very important to Delores. She was the cornerstone for the foundation for her sons and grandchildren. Her real pride and joy were her family and the time spent with them making unforgettable memories and always making sure they were together and Holidays and other occasions. She cherished the time with the grandchildren, taking them to the cottage when they were 3-4 years old and Delores would cook and bake with them, teach them how to play different card games and they would watch the birds and she would teach them the names of the different kinds of birds that came to the feeders. We would have a bonfire and make pudgy pies and she would make fresh hot raised donuts for us. She was very artistic and talented and always had some projects going. Delores was always busy knitting, crocheting, embroidering, painting, cooking or baking. She knit and crocheted afghans and scarfs, etc. for all the family. She enjoyed listening to music. Her favorites were Elvis, Engelbert Humperdink and Celine Dion. She also was a Packer fan, especially watching Bart Starr and Brett Favre. We started going to the games at City Stadium and then had season tickets at Lambeau Field. Delores also had a green thumb; her African violets were always in bloom and her orchids blossomed for over three months every year. She enjoyed her garden box and all her many outdoor flowers.
Delores was a longtime member of St. Bernard Parish and was a member of their Altar Rosary Society. Delores was also a bridge player belonging to several luncheon groups and Bridge Marathons. Delores kept her friendships alive with bridge games, lunches and endless conversations. In her earlier years, she was involved with Boy Scouts and was secretary for the Ladies Auxiliary of Knights of Columbus 617. She was also a member of Ladies Day at Royal Scott Golf Course. Delores was a member of Audubon Society, United Commercial Travelers and The World Organization of China Painters. She also was a volunteer for St. Vincent Hospital knitting prayer shawls and baby caps. Delores enjoyed traveling with her husband to Hawaii, the Bahamas, Jamaica, Florida, and a three-week camping trip to Bar Harbor, Maine and other states.
