To Ken & Mariah, and all of her family & friends my heartfelt and heartbroken condolences. And yet I had been feeling that something there was just "not right" for some time. Now I know why. Kim was the heart of the place, and absolutely the best at what she did. To myself and to my son Kevan she was an absolute blessing on numerous occasions from a business standpoint, but even greater of a blessing in a personal way. She always remembered us and our circumstances, and was ever ready with that wonderfully calm and kind manner of hers, and a smile like sunshine to warm to coldest day.
I always liked to park in front of her office window when I went to the credit union--so she could look out and see that the latest car she had helped me buy was still doing fine.
I always hoped she would not be with another customer or on the phone whenever I was there, because I so treasured the brief conversations that we had from time to time. I always looked forward to seeing her even if it was just to wave.
I so wish that I had known that she was ill--so that I could have visited her, but I understand that it would have been her way to have kept her private life as private as possible. I just wish I could have hugged her goodbye and told her that I loved her, and would miss her terribly--not just professionally, but personally.
Yet I know that she is with the Lord and free of all pain, suffering, and stress. And I've asked Our Lord to please give her that hug for me, and tell her how happy I will be to see her again one glorious day.
She would want me to say to Mariah and Ken how much she loved you, and always smiled when she spoke of you. I cannot imagine the depth of your grief--and that of all her loved ones--family and friends. You will all be in my prayers for God to give you comfort in the midst of missing her so terribly...
She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by me all the rest of my life, and I will always be so thankful to God for my having had the benefit of her wisdom, caring, and expertise in financial matters at SCU, but even more so for the great blessing of just having known such a wonderful, warm-hearted person...
I was so shocked when I saw the copy of Kim's obituary when I visited the credit union yesterday afternoon.

Dear Ken and Mariah,
When Valerie emailed last night to let me know of Kim's passing I was heartbroken. We had not gotten together in a long time, but I still think fondly of all the great times we had. Kim was one of my first friends when I moved to Greenville 25 years ago and I will never forget her smile, that infectious laugh and her wonderful servant's heart. My thoughts and prayers are with you both. Take comfort in that she is not truly gone - just gone before and will be with you in spirit until she can welcome you home.
Much love - Beth

Dear Ken and Mariah,I am so sorry to learn of sweet Kim's passing. I know you will miss her so much. She helped me with my tax return at the library a few years ago and she helped track it in the mail for me. She was a good wife and mom. Sweet Mariah, I will be thinking of you. Your Mom loved you so much. You look a lot like her. She would want you to be happy until you see her again. This earth is only a temporary home. Your Mom will always be by your side in spirit until you see her again. God bless you both.

I met Kim in the little SCCU trailer at Greenville Tech. Kim provided much sound financial advice and help over the years. However, I enjoyed Kim's friendly manner the most and we shared many chuckles during those simpler times. I only visit the credit union on rare occasions since my retirement in 1999. I always look to see if Kim is in her corner office. I have found it empty several times in the last year or two or she has been busy working away on the phone. So I left without just saying hello. I was deeply saddened by the obituary I saw posted Wednesday at SCCU. Kim was so young to leave her family and friends, but I was encouraged by her church affiliation, believing she just beat me to heaven! So many people must miss Kim. Anyone else in Kim's office just won't look right. I would like to express my sincere sympathy to her family. Nikki Duncan

To all of Kim's family...Kim was one of the first people I met when we moved to Myrtle Beach. We lived right across the street from each other and became best friends. It seems like there are really no words to describe our friendship and what kind of a very special person she was. I pray that you all find peace in her memory as I know that I will. Peace and Love

I didn't realize when I read this obituary who she was. My daughters and I worked for the state and knew Kim years ago. She was so nice and efficient at her job, always ready to be of help. You will be in our prayers that God will give you peace and comfort in your days ahead. It's hard to understand someone passing away at such a young age, but knowing where her eternal home is an assurance that you can be together again some day.
