Stephen Hill, 55, of Nashville, TN, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012.
Surviving are his wife, Kathy Hill and children: Melody, Miriam and Caleb.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday, August 13, at Grace Church of the Nazarene near Opryland in Nashville, TN.

When I heard of his passing, I was deeply grieved..
He was one of my most favorite gospel singers! He had a very unique way of singing with a yodel type of sound.. Oooh oooh ohhh yeaahh that I so loved! And singing with the Gaithers and Company, he could really make them smile! Miss him so
And I believe he is singing in heaven with the angels around the throne!!

Stephen quickly became one of my top three Gaither Group singers the first time I heard him sing. Loved his originality and beautiful voice. What a loss to the singing community! I am happy to write these feelings in the month of his twelfth anniversary of his passing, now realizing I didn't hear his voice until several years ago when I got hooked on the Vocal Band! I am grateful for your husband and dad who added one more beautiful voice of heaven to brighten lives. Bless your hearts with the sweet memories of Stephen.

A good friend. Think of him often. There is a picture of him holding my Gibson and me holding his Taylor about 2 weeks before he passed. I think of him often. He loved his family and friends. RIP my friend.

As a baby Christian, I only discovered the Gaither Family of musicians a short time ago and so was very saddened to find out this wonderful singer had already passed. My life has been so affected by so many Godly, wonderful singers and I know someday I will get to meet them all in heaven. I loved watching how Stephen always started out so calm and smooth and by the end of the song you could tell he had the Holy Spirit moving him. I just love watching and hearing him, such a blessing. God bless his family.

At this moment just started to watch Gaither shows. And was mesmerized to see such a gentle giant with a beautiful voice which made me watch the show more more. then learned of his passing in 2012 I just could not believe that one such a servant of God was called home so young in life everyday I pray for his family that they're doing okay I know it's been since 2012 but God is still on the throne a blessings to the family and peace.

Like others, I discovered Stephen Hill in 2020, long after his passing. I thank God for Stephen's beautiful voice and spirit and the technology that allows it to minister to me and others.
My condolences to his family for the tremendous loss. His music will live on forever.

I met and knew him in Indiana at the gaither studio. I have gotten busy with life and only now learned about his death. I was impressed about his incredible voice rang and unpredictably. I'm so sorry for your loss. But he's Heaven's gain.

I only came to know about Stephen during lock down. Thank you for the many encouragements in song. I pray for his family. I trust you are all well because he is at peace with his Maker. For some reason I have been listening to the Gaithers and discovered the song "Thank You Jesus" and did a bit of research on the artist. I have been so inspired by him. He sings with such conviction and reality.
Stephen Hill I learned about you after your death but God allows me to tap into your ministry which lives after you. I spend a lot of my time just listening to you sing. Especially the song I mentioned above. Such a blessing. God bless his family.

this was one of the greatest shocks of recent years. Stephen was a great picker and an exceptional singer who had a superb knack for finnding the soul of a song. Perhaps that was because he was such a gifted sonwriter himself. He did over thirty demos for me, some I wrote and some we wrote together, and in those demo sessions his mere presence brightened the room and his witty repasrtee kept all of us in continuous laughter. Stephen was a very dear friend and his parting will leave a gaping hole in our hearts.

There's so much about this guy I could say. where would I really start? I will say Stephen was a great friend, he was like a brother to me for all of these years.
I know that ya'll will miss him. Even we may not have been blood related it breaks my heart knowing that my friend is gone. But I hope and pray that one day I will get to see him and hear that wonderful voice again.

Hello. I am writing this on behalf of my parents Harold & Doris Netherland from Winnsboro, LA. My parents have had the priviledge of meeting Mr. Stephen Hill a few times from Life Church with the Bates Family being the preacher. They dearly love(d) him and he will be sorely missed by them. Mr. Hill acknowledged my mother's absence when he visited the church in 2009/2010 and gave her one of his CD's. She missed seeing him because she was in the hospital. He would have come to visit her had he had time. My mother is deaply saddened by his sudden death and sends her deepest reguards to his family and the Gaither friends and family. We have had the privelege of having Stephen Hill in our church for various concerts. As wonderful as his concerts were, his bubbly personality was even more wonderful. The House of Prayer in Emory, Texas will be praying for the family. We will miss him.

My family and I have so many fond memories of Stephen going all the way to his teenage yrs. Stephen came to our home often and he and my brother Rick played music together. He went to the beach with us and just seemed to be a member of the family.We all loved Stephen,such a gentle soul.I spoke to him a short time ago and we emailed a few times,his soft voice and love for God helped me so much.I can't imagine your loss,I know my heart is hurting.He was one of a kind that was and still is loved by so many.God couldn't have found a better soul to help bring people to the Lord. I will miss him terribly, i love him as a brother, my life is much better for having him in it. I have treasured Steve's friendship for the last 40+ years. We sang together in many groups in high school. Even though we rarely saw each other for the last 35 years, Steve always treated me as if it had only been a few days since our last encounter. I will miss him greatly. He is now face-to-face with the LORD.

It was a shock to hear this .he was here at Miracle Baptist church on May 29th for a concert and it was such a pleasure to get to hear him both times he was here.
