REBECCA LONG Obituary

REBECCA "BECKY" OAKES LONG, born Nov. 13, 1950, in Dayton, Ohio, died in Green Valley on March 26, 2011.

She graduated with a BA from Eastern Kentucky University and from Duke University Divinity School with her masters in Divinity.

Becky served for 24 years as a United Methodist Pastor in Arizona: she was Associate Pastor of Willowbrook United Methodist Church (UMC) in Sun City; Paster of Christ UMC in Phoenix; Senior Pastor of Christ Church United Methodist in Tucson; Senior Pastor of Dove of the Desert UMC in Glendale; and finally Senior Pastor of Green Valley Community Church.

She is survived by her husband Gary Long; mother Beth Oakes; sisters Carol Oakes and Donna Oakes; as well as nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2011, at Green Valley Community Church.

Our love to Gary and all the family. Becky did our wedding in 1990 in NC. Our div school friendship meant so much. A truly classy woman of God. We mourn this loss deeply. One of the best persons we've ever known.
