Frank Romano Obituary

Frank Anthony Romano, 91, of Farmington, husband of the late Faye Fortunata Romano, died Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. He was born October 5, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late John and Rose Romano and had lived in Canton for many years prior to moving to Farmington two years ago. Frank was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army. He was a graduate of the Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute and received his Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He also received a scholarship to train at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music. Mr. Romano was the Supervisor of Mechanical Installations for the New York City Housing Authority, helping to construct low income high rise buildings for the poor of New York, for 30 years prior to his retirement. He also worked in the printing industry for many years, and helped run and manage Roman Press, a printing shop his immigrant father started in the early 1900's. Over the years, Frank was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Collinsville, and since his move to Farmington, St. Mary Star of the Sea Church in Unionville. He was also a member of Prince Thomas of Savoy Club in Avon, the Ferrini Welfare League of New York, and the choruses of the Simsbury and West Hartford Senior Centers. Frank loved all things related to family, especially his wonderful wife Faye of 47 years, whom he loved and adored, his sons, daughters in law, grandsons, his sister, and two brothers, and many close relatives. He enjoyed singing opera and tunes from the 40's and 50's, dancing, bowling, stained glass, photography and was known for being able to fix anything. He is survived by his loving sons, Vincent Romano and his wife Jane of New Hartford and John Romano and his wife Kelly of Canton; his adoring grandsons, Evan and Sean Romano of South Carolina; his sister, Virginia Beneduce of Vero Beach, FL; his three sisters-in-law, Angela Romano of New York, Margaret DePasqule of New York and Lillian DePasqule of New York and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, whom he adored, and always gave him special joy to see them. He was predeceased by two brothers, John and Ralph Romano; his brothers-in-law, Joseph and Daniel DePasqule, Peter Cotone, Felix Russo, Vincent Beneduce and Ralph Fallarino and his sisters-in-law, Anna Cotone, Mary Russo and Rose Fallarino. Friends may call at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton, on Friday, September 30th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral will be Saturday, October 1st, 9:15 AM from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 AM at St. Mary Star of the Sea in Unionville. Burial with military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Collinsville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
