I was saddened to read of Al's passing but am thrilled to read this in-depth obit! It brought me even closer to the family. I remember staying @ Al & Gert's house for some days when my youngest sister was born. There were some complications so I may have stayed a week or two. I was only 4 but remember vividly sitting @ the piano with Gert; listening to Puff the Magic Dragon & Mary Poppins songs. ( on record player, I would guess); and having a visit to see Erik who was staying @ Holochs. I don't think Al had a whole lot of interaction with me but I remember him sitting in the room & reading the paper.
I was very sorry I couldn't make it for the service but please know the family is in my prayers. Even when one has lived a long good life, it hurts when they're gone. GOD BLESS
