Alfred Lilliendahl Obituary
Alfred T. Lilliendahl, 99, of East Hartland, beloved husband for 73 years of the late Gertrude (Stickney) Lilliendahl, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, in Granby. Born in Brooklyn, NY on March 14, 1919, son of the late Dr. C.D. William Lilliendahl and Margaret (Thompson) Lilliendahl, he moved to East Hartland in 1941. He leaves four children, Alfred Lilliendahl and his wife Retta of Broadway, VA, Thomas Lilliendahl and his wife Irena of East Hartland, William Lilliendahl and his wife Betsy of East Hartland, and Margaret "Peg" Norman and her husband Earl of Woodstock; 12 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 23, 11 a.m., at the Bethany Lutheran Brethren Church, 116 Walnut Hill Rd., East Hartland. Burial will be private in the East Hartland Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to East Hartland Fire Department, 34 South Rd., East Hartland, CT 06027 or to the T.J. Lilliendahl Ministry, c/o Thomas J. Lilliendahl, P.O. I was saddened to read of Al's passing but am thrilled to read this in-depth obit! It brought me even closer to the family. I remember staying @ Al & Gert's house for some days when my youngest sister was born. There were some complications so I may have stayed a week or two. I was only 4 but remember vividly sitting @ the piano with Gert; listening to Puff the Magic Dragon & Mary Poppins songs. ( on record player, I would guess); and having a visit to see Erik who was staying @ Holochs. I don't think Al had a whole lot of interaction with me but I remember him sitting in the room & reading the paper.
I was very sorry I couldn't make it for the service but please know the family is in my prayers. Even when one has lived a long good life, it hurts when they're gone. GOD BLESS
