Amy Beth Robinson

1946 - 2019

Spirited, generous, fearless, and devoted, Amy Beth Robinson (née Wyse) gave meaning to everything she touched in her life. Amy died peacefully at her home on May 8, 2019. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Lewis James Robinson Jr, and her two sons, Ramsey Douglass and Elliot Daniel. Her spirit lives eternally in all their hearts. Amy was born on December 19, 1946, in Wayland, Iowa, the daughter of Dr. CC "Bud" Wyse and Blanche (Boshart) Wyse. She grew up in a close-knit and loving family, the youngest of five children: her three sisters, Lucy, Marti, and Mary, and her brother, Chris. Amy graduated from Bluffton College with a bachelor's degree in English and a minor in French. She spent a year traveling abroad to the University of Strasbourg to fully immerse herself in French language studies. It was during her time in Strasbourg that she met the love of her life, Lew Robinson, who would eventually become her husband. Amy and Lewis made their home together in Hartford and West Hartford for 46 years, where she was the founder and principal of Robinson and Associates, a marketing communications firm. Tirelessly devoted to contributing to her community, Amy served in myriad volunteer positions, including as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Harriet Beecher Stowe Center, Trustee of Hartford Theological Seminary, President of Women in Communications, and Board Member of 224, a local organization dedicated to Culture, Community Building, Spirituality, and Wellness. At the apex of her professional life, Amy managed the marketing of two very successful "At Home in Hartford" tours in the West End of Hartford and adjoining neighborhoods. Then in October of 1999, she earned a Master's degree in Religious Studies from Hartford Theological Seminary, where she served as a member of the Board of Trustees. Most recently, Amy found joy and satisfaction in serving as a tutor at Noah Webster Micro Society Magnet School, where her tutelage and tenderness touched the hearts of countless students. Amy was a savvy world traveler, passionate gourmet cook, exquisite dresser, and creative interior decorator whose impeccable eye and tasteful consultations were appreciated by many. She loved life in Goodwin Estate, where she had abundant friendships, and spent summers in South Kingstown, Rhode Island, where she enjoyed time with family and friends, and delving into books, silence, and other restorative pleasures of beach life. Her husband Lew held her as his muse, best friend, inspiration, teacher of patience and compassion, confidante, relentless rock, and the love of his life. Testifying to her boundlessly generous spirit, Amy stated her wish to donate her brain to research Creutzfeldt-Jacob disease, an exceedingly rare and poorly understood neurodegenerative disorder that took her own life so that others might benefit. A Memorial Service to celebrate Amy's life will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 4 pm at the First Congregational Church, 10 Wintonbury Avenue, Bloomfield, CT. Contributions in Amy's honor can be sent to Hartford Theological Seminary or the National Prion Disease Pathology Surveillance Center.
