Doreen McCabe Obituary

McCABE, Doreen D. Doreen (Dooley) McCabe, 57, of West Hartford, the wife of Joseph E. McCabe, died Wednesday (June 11, 2008), at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center. Born in Middletown, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Marion (Allen) Dooley, she had made her home in West Hartford the past 24 years. Doreen was a 1969 graduate of Mercy High School, earned her Bachelor's degree from Albertus Magnus College '73, and her Master's degree in Library Science from Southern Connecticut State University. She worked for the West Hartford Public Library, and prior to that the Hartford Public Library and the Connecticut Historical Society. Doreen devoted her life to her family, attending hundreds of sporting and school events for her daughters and son, and enjoying family vacations. She loved to travel with her husband, garden, read, work with her friends, and watch the Red Sox. She is survived by her husband Joe, daughters Megan McCabe Welch and her husband Matthew of Boston, MA, Katelyn McCabe of Los Angeles, CA, and Brendan McCabe of Hartford. Funeral services will be Monday June 16 at 9:30 a.m. from the Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave., West Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, West Hartford. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. Calling hours are Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
