Kathleen A. Drum

1951 - 2021

Kathleen A. (LaRock) Drum, 69, of Granby, beloved wife of Robert M. Drum, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2021 after a long and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Born in Hartford on May 9, 1951, the daughter of the late Robert and Delphine (Miller) LaRock. She was a graduate of Avon High School and went on to obtain her bachelor's degree from Western Connecticut State College. Kathleen was hired right out of college as a music teacher in the Southwick-Tolland School System. She loved bringing music to her students and cherished the many students she educated over the years. Kathleen was also instrumental in creating and developing the drama club. She put on many Broadway like shows over the years until her retirement in 1994 due to her illness. Kathleen was a longtime communicant of the former St. Bernard's Church in Tariffville, where she was a member of the Ladies Guild. She also enjoyed crafts, needle point, cross stitch, and stuffed crafts. She is survived by her husband of forty years, Robert M. Drum of Granby, her sisters; Lynn Speckman and her husband Rick of North Swanzey, NH and Peggy Guay and her husband David of Granby and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 12PM at the Hayes Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook Street, Granby, CT 06035. Visitation will precede the service from 11-12PM. Burial will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Maple Street, Tariffville.
