Prentiss Shepherd Obituary
Prentiss Shepherd, age 67, of Avawam, passed away on Feb. 22 at his residence. Prentiss was a retired coal miner. He was the son of the late Matt Shepherd and the late Mimia Standafer Shepherd. He was also preceded in death by one sister: Veda Smith.
He is survived by his wife: Genice Fields Shepherd; two sons: Scotty Prentiss (Penny) Shepherd of Hazard and Jeffrey Odis (Sharon) Shepherd of Hardburly; two sisters: Magdaline Whitaker of Mallie and Reda Lewis of Amburgey; three brothers: Leonard Shepherd of Avawam, Arko Shepherd of Avawam and Linville Shepherd of Ohio; four grandchildren: Danielle Gayhart, Cody Gayhart, Jacob Shepherd and Dylan Shepherd; two great grandchildren: Alexis Hall and Annsley Hall and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Mtn. View Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Feb. 24. Funeral service will be at Maggard Mtn. View Chapel on Feb. 25, with James Cornett officiating. Interment will be at Kilburn Cemetery in Avawam.
