Dear Joyce, I am just finding out the sad news nearly a year late with your Christmas (2015) card. I know it has been a difficult year for you and your family. I liked Dick's humor. He was a good man. Cherish the memories. Cathy Boswell-Peifer.

I just learned today of Dick's passing , and will always remember him as a wonderful kind man, who helped me emigrate from the UK to the US at Ryder. He was charismatic, smart, genuine and warm, and I miss him. Condolences to the Rechtien family.

Dear Joyce, I was shocked & saddened this evening when I learned of Dick's passing.
Dick was the only Ryder executive that I have always held warm memories of & always was happy to see whenever our paths crossed many years after we first meet in the 1970s when he was a Ryder VP & I was the Ford National account Manager assigned to Ryder. Dick was always warm , humorous & completely ethical in business. I truly regret not scheduling a lunch date with him in Ft Lauderdale as we'd talked about each time we'd happen to meet. Please know that Rick was the most admired & highly respected by all us truck reps calling on Ryder. He was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. My sincere deepest condolences to you and the family.

To the Rechtien family - it has been a pleasure and an honor to know Dick over the pas 30+ years. We always enjoyed time spent with him and Joyce - Thanksgiving dinners, Easter, dinners out, parties and football games. He was an example to all of us on how true success is not defined solely by a successful business but in how he treated his family and friends. A shining example for all to follow. He will be truly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Aunt Joyce, Pam, Amy, Mark - I have no words to express our sadness and shock at the news. The whole family was just talking about what a great time we had and how generous you both were to host us a few years ago. I have nothing but great memories of Uncle Dick while growing up. I can't imagine what you are all feeling. I wish I could get there to be with you. Know that you are all in our prayers.
