George Hauser Obituary

Hauser, George R. "Ron"
Sep. 7, 1934 - Nov. 21, 2013
George R. Hauser (Ron) 79, longtime resident of Sarasota, died Nov. 21, 2013. He was born Sept. 7, 1934 in Lancaster, OH and there married Mary Jane (Reese) Hauser Dec. 10, 1955.
He was a Realtor and Developer, President of Whispering Sands Realty, Inc. and George R. Hauser Realty, Inc.
Over the years he has served as President of Palm Springs Little League and was a founding member of Miss Softball America (now Miss Sarasota Softball). More recently he has served as President of Bent Tree Golf Club 2004-2007 and 2009-2011. He is a lifetime member of the Elks #2495 and attended St. John's Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 58 years, Mary Jane, whom he loved dearly. He was a devoted and always entertaining Dad to Steve and Betsy, and an adoring and completely smitten "Poppy" to granddaughter Peyton, his "Princess". Also survived by his brother, Jack.
He enjoyed many sports and activities including golf, fishing, boating, golf, reading, coaching his kids' baseball and softball teams, and, did we mention golf? He attended all of Peyton's Tae Kwon Do events and soccer games, always sporting the team colors, the last one being her first game as a JV player for Riverview High School. He had some skills in the kitchen too...the man could make some soup!
He loved his family and friends, his dogs, practical jokes, the Tampa Bay Bucs (yeah, we know, but they did win a Super Bowl), the Tampa Bay Rays, Blue Bell Ice Cream, and Bud Light. He had a great sense of humor about life, and himself, that brings a smile to this day and will for years to come. He was known to use colorful language especially after stubbing a toe and will be remembered for his old adages which usually began with "Like my old Daddy used to say..." most of which are not printable! He was an optimist and a problem solver who could fix almost anything. Sometimes wrong but never in doubt, he exuded confidence. He could be a little particular when teaching skills or accomplishing tasks, which drove his kids crazy especially when he was right. He was a presence in a room that is already greatly missed.
There will be a Celebration of his Life Nov. 30, 2013 at 3:00 pm at the Bent Tree Golf Club. Casual dress please. In lieu of flowers, you may choose to make a donation in his name to American Cancer Society, Sarasota Chapter, 2970 University Parkway, Ste. 104, Sarasota, FL 34243.

We met Mr. Hauser only one time; at Peyton's end of year soccer party last year; our son, Jared, was on her team. The party was at Ron and Mary Jane's house. We very much enjoyed talking with Mr. and Mrs. Hauser. They made us feel like part of the family. I know how much he will be missed.
