Robert Myers Obituary

Myers, Robert “Bob”; “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.” Psalm 116:15 Robert died peacefully on January 28, 2016 at the home of his daughter, Mary Ellen, under the loving care of his family and hospice. He was born in Detroit, the son of Thomas and Mary (Frayne) Myers. On September 9, 1945 he married Marilyn Richardson, his Western High School sweetheart. She preceded him in death on February 7, 1988. Bob loved his family including his large extended family in Canada where his parents were born and raised. He spent all his summers as a youth working on his grandparent’s farm and spending time with his many aunts, uncles and cousins. Bob graduated from Western High School in Detroit and the Henry Ford Trade School. He worked for over 35 years with the Western and Southern Life Insurance Company managing their Wyandotte office. Bob was a member of the Allen Park United Presbyterian Church for over 60 years. He enjoyed being involved in different ministries there over the course of that time with special fondness for playing on their men’s softball team. Bob was preceded in death by his two brothers, Frank and James, and his only son, James. He is survived by his daughters, Pat DeGrood, Mary Ellen (Daniel) Landon, and daughter-in-law, Linda Myers and grandchildren: James (Jane) Bening, Joy (Daniel) Green, Grace (Joseph) Tirado, Daniel (Stephanie) Landon, Joshua Landon, Glory (John) Bergmans, and Ellen Myers. Also nine great grandchildren and cherished nephews, and great nephews and niece. A private service for family and close friends was held at the chapel of the Michigan Memorial Cemetery. It was officiated by his son-in-law, Daniel Landon, and a message from the Word of God was delivered by his grandson-in-law, Daniel Green.

Mary Ellen,
I am so sorry to hear that your Dad passed away.I will always remember when my dad and yours would get together and all they would do would laugh at each other the whole time they were together. My Dad passed away 10 days before your father passed this year. My dad would always ask me if your dad was ok as he thought of him always.I know you will miss him dearly and remember all of the good memories that you have of him.
