To the Hashimura family: My deepest sympathy for your loss. I worked with Mr. and Mrs. Hashimura for many years as their immigration legal counsel and I enjoyed nothing more than their calls, their visits and the music projects that they did out of love for people and culture. They were so generous with their kindness, warmth and time; I will miss them greatly and hope to carry forward a little of what they taught by their example.

Dear Margie,

My deepest sympathy to you and Blossom. I know that we have lost touch many years ago, but I have many, many fond memories of you and your family, and felt compelled to write and tell you how sorry I am for your loss of both of your mom and dad, so close together.... I wish I were there to hug you in this time of sadness.

Sincerely,
