Great Professor at Texas Southern University who taught us to always realize that TSU is indeed one of Houston's Major Universities and if we didn't believe that of our own institution who would!!! Aquarius Johnson, UPEP Doctoral Student!!!

Good afternoon, my name is Min. Theresa Dews, and I'm apologize for just hearing about the passing of Dr. McCoy. I remember when I first took classes with him one of the things he said to me that I have now passed on to my grandchildren, is never walk in his class without your books, because you won't anything in common with him. I thank him for the style of teaching, because I was a more mature student, but i was able to comprehend. Thank you for sharing Dr. McCoy with us.

To Dr. McCoy's family:
When Dr. McCoy came to TSU to direct the Public School of Affairs, I was the first he hired as Administrative Assistant. He was full of innovative ideas and was quick on his feet. Both of us were fairly new to Houston, and he made me feel at home, though I had been here longer than he. He was intent on setting up the Ralph Bunche Chair, and was skilled at bringing dignitaries to put a face on this new school at the university. His effervescent personality and belief that what was conceived could be achieved made him effective, successful and well liked. He also stood up for the equality on pay for all. He brought in the best, and I felt honored to be a part of this endeavor.
I am deeply saddened to find out (late) that Dr. McCoy had passed. My thinking is that he is resting eternally in Glory. Family, you have my sincere condolence.

A gentleman among gentlemen. I first remember Dr. McCoy from my childhood as he and my father were colleagues and friends. He was a brilliant man and I always enjoyed seeing his smile. As God would have it, he and I were then colleagues at TSU during his last years there. Still the gentleman, He always had a hug and that smile.
My heartfelt condolences to the immediate and extended families, may your memories and faith sustain you at this time.

Dr. McCoy was one of my amazing, very spirited professors at Texas Southern University. It was because of his greatness and compassion that he went out his way to ensure that I could take the State Bar on time after having some issues related to my dual degree program. He was dedicated to the education and advancement of his students. I take great pride in my memories of Dr. McCoy and recognize he is in a much better place with no sickness and where his days are not numbered. I pray that God comforts Dr. McCoy's family and friends and that the memories of his good works on this earth will sooth your hearts and transform your sorrow into unspeakable joy. Be blessed
