Kim Viola Obituary
Kim Freeman Viola , 57, of West Columbia, will be on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 from 12 Noon until 8:00 pm at E. Viola & Son Funeral Home, 205 N. Broad Street, West Columbia, Texas 77486. Kim was born on March 31, 1954 in Freeport, Texas to Kathryn G. Viola and the Late Traversia J. Viola,Sr. and passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at M D Anderson Hospital ~ Houston.
Kim graduated from West Columbia High School, and went on to attend Wharton Junior College and Texas Southern University~ Houston where he graduated and later spent years teaching ComputerScience. In 1985, Kim began working for Exxon Mobile Company where he gave years of service until his retirement in 2000. He attended Commonwealth Mortuary College and graduated with honors in 2003; afterwards, he joined his Father at their family business E. Viola and Son Funeral Home while also working as Manager at Auto Zone in Angleton.
Kim enjoyed scuba diving, cycling and hunting. He was what would be considered a jack of all trades only he as a master of many. His kind and gentle spirit will be missed. All who knew and loved him have lost. He was preceded in death by his father; Traversia J. Viola, Sr.; brother, Val P. Viola and brother-in-law, Dr. Melvin Douglas Smith.
Kim is survived by his mother, Kathryn Viola; devoted companion, Jackie Sparks; sons, Jordash and Jerome Sparks and Val Viola; daughters, Kimberly Lewis and Jakoba Sparks; brothers, Traversia J. Viola, Jr. and wife, Janice and Frank Herra and wife, Mollie; and sister, Marylyn Smith; numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Kim and i grew up as young kids in West Columbia. Allthough i lived in Angleton, my grandmother lived in Mound Creek, Tx in case you never heard of it about 12 miles away. I would get dropped off, we had big fun.
Then he moved later as adults we lived not far apart but always had chemical bond together, miss u my bro.

Kim, it has taken me a long time to write to you because of great memories and at the same time, such profound feelings of sadness. You were my best friend. Last we spoke, you told me you had a cold. I only wish I had known. My memories are great and I still laugh, thinking back. I remember when you used to come in your Bug; you could hear it coming a mile away. I remember when you came to visit me in Colorado many years ago, I told you not to take my car up Pikes Peak because of the thin air and cars from Texas needed to be acclimatized for the altitude, but you did and of course the car stopped on you half way up the mountain; you got out, walk around, crossed a stream; waited for help to come. At my office, I received a call of excitement from you about what you had found… “GOLD! I found GOLD! We have to go back! I know where I found it!” When I got home, there was gold dust from the front door, up the stairs, on into the bathroom. How the wind left your sail when I told you it was only fool’s gold and worthless. I had a difficult time getting that fool’s gold out of the carpet. When I left Colorado and was closing the door for the last time, I looked back and I could still see shimmers of your gold still in the carpet. You were my confidant; you knew where I was around the world when my family didn’t know. I asked you to keep it a secret and you did. My friend, I know you’ve crossed another stream, a better, clearer stream and this time you’ve found real gold. So walk those streets of gold and I will see you soon. To the Viola family, you have my deepest sympathy. Kim was a wonderful person.

Everytime I saw you, you had a smile on your face....even over the telephone I could tell that you were smiling..Now your smiles are coming down from heaven as you look over your wife & kids.
