Milton Rex Marcus

MILTON REX MARCUS died on Monday, May 25, 2009, at the age of 89. Milton was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his surviving family as well as his many friends. He is survived by his son, Glenn Marcus, his wife Sarah and their daughter Brooke of Austin, Texas; his daughter, Laurie Marcus of Dallas,Tx; and his daughter Jodi Padon, her husband Matthew, and their children, Benjamin and Sarah Kate of Houston, Tx. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kate and Benjamin Marcus; his sister Betty Rosenblat; his brother Seymour Marcus and his beloved wife, Esther Jean Marcus. Milton was born to Kate and Benjamin Marcus in Detroit, Michigan, on June 19, 1919. As a young man, he worked on the assembly line at Cadillac Motors and also served his country as a Marine. He married his wife Esther Jean on Aug. 31, 1947 in Detroit. In 1958, Milton and Esther moved to Houston. Through his business as a successful custom home builder, Milton made many lifelong friends. He lived and worked by a simple creed: "A person is as good as his word". Milton was completely devoted to his wife and family, and took great pride in his children and grandchildren. The family expresses heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Walid Hammad, Pat Moore and Frankie Patterson for their dedicated care for Milton for the past two years. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at Emanu El Memorial Park, Kagan-Rudy Chapel, 8341 Bissonnet, Rabbi Roy A.Walter and Cantor Vadim Tunitsky.
