...To my dearest uncle Socrates.
Our house would come to life every time you called from Chicago or Houston
or visited us for real at the village.
It is quite biterly disappointing to know you no longer will call or visit.

...From "Unbeleivable Events"
The two brothers,Socrates and Alexandros Zavitsanos, while neither one of two were sea men, roared the boat, through the German-Italian sea block and arrived to Poros with the right quantity of wheat we had exchanged with our olive oil...
It was cold and winter and dark,at 3 a.m and the sea could easily swallow anything on the surface...

Story told 1988.
In 1954 when hunger was around,I was a young teacher on the Island of Cephalonia.
Because of the poor economic conditions,I was the only one on the Island who had a suit that was Taylored by Socrates in his own Aristocratic fashion.

Sokrates I've included you in my book..."Unbeleivable Events"
Together with your brother Alexandros
you hid the olive oil we were trading during the Resistance(WW2)underneath the feet of the Italian Phasists.
We started a fire elswhere...The Italians went to put out the fire...
We grabed the oil and disappeared...
The Italians still are trying to catch you.
Heavenly trip and Eternal life my good friend.

From the people of Poros.
Socrates, you tought us how to get dressed, how to fit clothes together...
When we did not have money to pay you for your Tayol work, your answear was:
"It's OK,next time."
The Village will remember you for ever.

I talked to the birds at the vine yard,
that you'll never come back...
I talked to the mountains at the village, that you won't see them again...
I talked to the walls of your old Taylor store and your old family house, that you won't return ever...
People at the village remeber you
as the Taylor who first drove the first motobike in the entire Island of Lefkas...
And I will remember you because I love you
Nephew,
Nikos Zavitsanos

How blessed are we who put our faith in God, for no matter how difficult it is to bear the pain of parting, we have His promise that one day we'll be reunited with those who have gone before us to our heavenly home.
In Your Time of Loss May God's Promise Bring you Peace.

Nephew, Andreas Zavitsanos.
You always cared about my success and my well being...You cared more about us and less about yourself.
Uncle Socrates, you were my second father.
Please look at us from the neihborhood of Angels were you are.
