ANN CONNALLY BROOKSBeloved wife, mother, sister and grandmother returned to the arms of her Heavenly Father in the early dawn of September 16th, 2009. Ann was born to Annie Lee and William Benjamin Connally on October 3, 1926, in Gadsden, Alabama. As a young child she was the fastest runner in her school, made many friends, survived the Depression, and overcame tuberculosis and polio. Throughout her life she loved music. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in music from Montevallo College, after which she played the piano perennially. She was the head organist for First Presbyterian Church of Pearland, Texas, for over three decades. How many young brides marched down the aisle accompanied by Ann's playing would be difficult to say, but it's almost certainly hundreds, and she often played for the daughters of brides she had played for years before. Ann was proud to have composed and played many religious pieces for her church. She had the gift of perfect pitch and taught people of all ages to play the piano. During the summer of 1948, Ann met the one and only love of her life, C.C. "Bill" Brooks. They married on July 8, 1950 and together raised five children: Sharon, Christopher, David, Alan, and Robert. Throughout their 44- year marriage they lived life to the fullest, loved each other like soul-mates, traveled extensively, and golfed to distraction. Ann loved studying Spanish, debating politics, playing cards, and meeting with her church group. She was proud of her heritage and was a longtime member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Ann is survived by her children, Sharon, David, Alan, and Robert, her grandchildren, Cristina, Jonathan, Joshua, Jordan, Rachel, Victoria, Alexandra, and Bonnie, and her brother, Ben Connally. She will be missed and remembered by all who knew her as a graceful, Southern lady. A visitation will be held at the South Park Funeral Home on Friday, September 18, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of South Park Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 19, 2009. Interment will be in the South Park Cemetery.
