Leon P. Voss

Manitowoc - Leon P. Voss, age 70, a Manitowoc resident, died on Tuesday morning, June 19, 2018 at his residence.

Leon was born March 18, 1948, son of the late Paul and Leona (Boeldt) Voss Sr. He grew up in Manitowoc, WI., and graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1966. Leon served in the U.S. Navy and was proud to serve his country in the Vietnam War from 1967-1970. On August 10, 1973 he married the former Cheryl C. Wilke and they would have celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary this year. In 2006, after 36 years he retired from the United States Post Office. He was a member of the American Legion Post #88, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 706 and the Vietnam Vets of America. Leon also enjoyed talking and sharing about his naval career in Vietnam. He also loved cribbage and watching Jeopardy, Wisconsin Badgers, Green Bay Packers, Indy and Nascar racing. Leon enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of almost 45 years: Cheryl C. Voss; one son and daughter-in-law: Michael and Lisa Voss; one daughter and son-in-law: Kristin and Brent Borgwardt; the joy of his life, his three grandchildren: Erin, Max and Katie; his granddog: Lollopop; one brother and sister-in-law: Paul and Judy Voss Jr; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Mary Voss and Jon Hermann, Anne and Tom Tegen; and one brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Peter and Linda Wilke. Special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents Paul Sr. and Leona Voss; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Gerald and Marcia Wilke; and his two dogs: Magnum and "little buddy" Pudgie.

Cremation has taken place at the All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, and funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at the All-Care Center (925 South 14th Street), Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be the Deacon Alan Boeldt with burial of his cremated remains at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Graveside Military Rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post #88.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at the All-Care Center, Manitowoc, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
