Johannes, Lisa Beth (Shattuck)

Lisa Beth (Shattuck) Johannes, was taken to heaven on Monday, March 25, 2013, at her home in Manitowoc. Lisa was born on September 19, 1958, in Lubbock, TX, to the late Ned and Mary Ann Shattuck. She was reborn as a child of God when she was baptized as an infant. Lisa's father loved to travel, so she grew up in various cities in the U.S. and Europe. (She described it by saying, "I moved 16 times before I was 20 years old.") She graduated from Greendale (WI) High School in 1977, and from Milwaukee County General Hospital School of Nursing in 1980. Lisa married Robert Johannes on June 14, 1980 at Zebaoth Lutheran Church in Milwaukee.

Lisa worked as an RN for several years, but her real love was art, cooking, literature, and her children. She was a mother and homemaker, painter, decorator, and jeweler. For several years she owned and operated her own gallery, the Mercantile Gallery, in Morris, MN, did catering, and painted a number of murals in the Morris area. After living all over the world, Lisa especially loved the people and landscape of rural, western Minnesota. If MN was Lisa's second home, Italy was her third. She spoke fluent Italian, taught her family to cook Italian food, and returned to Italy on numerous trips. A divine call to St. Peter's Lutheran Church brought her husband, Pastor Robert Johannes, and Lisa to Mishicot and Manitowoc. Here in Wisconsin, Lisa worked at the River Edge Gallery in Mishicot and the Manitowoc Domestic Violence Center.

Lisa is survived by her husband, Bob; one daughter, Pearl (Trevor) Bayda of De Pere; one son, August of Lincoln, NE; and one grandson, Beau Bayda. She is also survived by two brothers, Paul (Kip) Shattuck of Pasadena, CA; and Kevin (Leanne) Shattuck, of Santa Monica, CA; by one sister, Laura (Michael) Murphy, of Tucker, GA; and by three nephews, Jack Shattuck, Conor Murphy, and Daniel Murphy. She is further survived by her father-in-law, Daniel Johannes, and her sister-in-law, Judith Kerr-Wright, both of Sheboygan; and by other relatives and many friends. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Dorothy Johannes.

Funeral services for Lisa will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2013, at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mishicot, with the Reverend Daniel Coles officiating, with burial of her cremated remains to follow in the Mishicot Public Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call after 9 a.m. on Thursday at the church, until the time of service at 1 p.m. There will be no Wednesday evening visitation.

A memorial fund has been established in her name.
