Daniel Fineberg Obituary

Daniel "Danny" Alan Fineberg

Indianapolis - Daniel "Danny" Alan Fineberg,

71, died peacefully in his Indianapolis home. He was born in Indianapolis, IN on Sept. 7, 1947 to Milton "Joshua" Fineberg and Jane Thompson Fineberg. He attended and graduated from Western Military Academy.

Daniel had a great zest for life. A good joke was always welcome and he loved to laugh. The food business was his career for many years. He managed a number of restaurants in Florida, Indianapolis and Cincinnati and finally opened his own, D.K. Brunchies, in the 1980's. Upon retirement from the restaurant business, Daniel was the proud owner of a hotdog cart that gave him and the surrounding community great joy.

He spent many years in Hollywood Beach, Florida enjoying the beach, kayak excursions and camping all over the state. He liked nothing more than greeting fellow campers and getting acquainted by a bonfire, always willing to lend a helping hand. Daniel's laugh could make anyone smile. He loved beautiful music, bird-watching, tinkering with puzzles or gadgets, and was most happy when every detail of his life was labelled, recorded and organized.

Daniel faced many health challenges over the years, but always did his best to push forward beyond them, just so he could get outside and feel the sunshine on his face.

Daniel was preceded in death by his father, Milton Josh Fineberg; mother, Jane Thompson Goldsmith; step-father, Mel Goldsmith; and sister, Leslie (Steve) Mears. He is survived by his stepson, Geoffrey (Jenna) Mitchell; sisters, Susie Skok, Kathy Dugdale and Diane Kauffman; brothers, Mark (Scott) Fineberg and Jeff Goldsmith; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was looking forward to his 1st grandchild and loved his family very much.

A funeral service will be held at Aaron Reuben Nelson Mortuary, 11411 N. Michigan Rd., Sunday, November 4th at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Heart Association or to Down Syndrome of Indiana.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. Danny was a classmate of mine at Western Military Academy. He was one of the "good guys" and I was happy to call him a friend. We reconnected a few years ago over Facebook. I am devastated to have lost a friend.

Danny Fineberg was a classmate of mine at Western Military Academy in Alton, Illinois. We graduated in the class of 1966. Danny was held in high esteem by everyone who knew him. He was easy going with a good sense of humor. I only have positive memories of him. I am sorry to hear of his passing. I know he will be missed greatly by family and friends but know that he will live on in our memories.

May your treasured memories fill your heart with love & bring you peace. May the words of 1 Thessalonians 4:14 give you comfort and hope."

Danny and I were in elementary school together, and I still recall going to dance party that he hosted for that awkward stage of 6th grade, but a lot of fun. Recently, we had connected on facebook and he was always a great person. My sincere sympathy is extended to all of his family and friends. Linda (Lykins) York

The world lost a wonderful, fun loving and caring person when we had to say goodbye to Danny. He had a way about him that immediately made one feel comfortable and welcome in his presence. Never at a loss for a good joke or witty retort, Danny's unique perspective on life and the world made for some of the most entertaining stories of all, sure to leave people with a grin or a chuckle. His face lit up when he could make people smile, and he truly loved and cared about all the people in his life.
The world was a better place with Danny here, however those who knew him well will surely care on his memory.
