Steven Ashmore Obituary

Steven Ashmore 21, resident of Indianapolis, beloved by countless family members and friends, died August 8th from complications obtained in an automobile accident. Steve was a 2008 graduate of North Central High School. He went on to attend the University of Indianapolis. Steve was to begin his junior year this fall, majoring in biology, with a desire to continue his studies in genetics and research. Steve's accomplishments did not end with being a student. He also was a star athlete, leader, and lover of plants and animals. Some of the things that Steve enjoyed most included football, baseball, rugby, wrestling, and art. He was an avid fisherman. In addition to sports and scholastic endeavors, he was an aquatic supervisor at Caribbean Cove Indoor Water Park. Steve was a swimming instructor, who had a special gift of relating to children. With patience and understanding, Steve helped them to overcome their fear of water and to swim for the very first time. Steve lived life with passion. He was infinitely curious of anything that lived, plants and creatures, truly of all God's creation. Steve had an extraordinary ability to rescue animals in distress and nurture a dying plant to life. Over the years he had many pets, but a favorite as a child was a box turtle from his grandparents. He dreamed of owning an exotic pet store with his brother Brian, where he could pursue his personal interests in biogenetics. Steve is survived by his parents, Edward and Jeanette (Klatte) Ashmore; his brother, Brian; grandfather, Dr. Eugene Klatte; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Although his life was short, he lived it fully and will be deeply missed. A time of sharing with family and friends will be from 5:30-7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 13, 2010 at Zionsville Presbyterian Church, 4775 W. 116th St., with service beginning at 7 p.m. to honor his life. Online condolences may be made at: www.flannerbuchanan.com. Arrangements entrusted to Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center- Zionsville.
