G. Thrapp Obituary

G. Ryan Thrapp

Deerfield Beach, FL - On Tuesday July 31, 2018, G. Ryan Thrapp of Deerfield Beach, Florida, passed away suddenly at the age of 38.

Ryan was born on January 16, 1980 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Gary and Barbara Thrapp. He was a proud graduate of Cathedral High School and went on to Northern Arizona University. Ryan had a wonderful way with people - a trait that served him very well during his time working at his family's jewelry store, the very place he garnered a life-long passion for complex fine watches.

Ryan was an incredible athlete - setting state records in swimming for Riviera and Highland Country Clubs. He played basketball, baseball, football and tennis in his youth and was an avid snowboarder. He loved slalom and barefoot skiing on Lake Wawasee, a place where his family spent many years creating cherished memories. Ryan and Gary were avid scuba divers and on multiple occasions could be found diving the crystal blue waters of Grand Cayman.

His personality was truly larger than life and the memories we have of laughing and being with Ryan will live on forever in our hearts. He lit up a room every time he made an entrance and if you received one of his huge, paralyzing bear hugs, then you know how good he could make people feel.

Ryan is survived by his loving parents Gary and Barbara Thrapp, his two daughters who made him incredibly proud Taylor and Izzy Thrapp, multiple aunts, uncles and cousins who will all miss him beyond measure.

He is proceeded in death by his maternal grandparents, Harry Thomas Blum and Elaine "Grandbuddy" Blum McCarthy and his paternal grandparents James and Elizabeth Thrapp.

A celebration of life will take place at Meridian Hills County Club in Indianapolis, Indiana on Wednesday, August 15th from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Every Dog Counts Rescue at: http://www.edcr.org/donate.html or Indianapolis Humane Society by visiting www.indyhumane.org.

Dear Gary and Barbara, I was shocked and much saddened to hear of Ryan's sudden passing. It seems only a short time ago that we enjoyed watching him play in the Little League games at Allisonville School. He was a beautiful boy and though we've lost touch over the years, I'l always remember him as a wonderful friend to my sons. May you find some peace in the darkness. Much love to you, Barb Chirgwin (Robert and Joe Fish's mom)

Gary and Barbara: Such a tragedy. My blessings and prayers are with you. I've been there and the only advice I have for you is to go ahead and grieve and then keep his memory alive, especially the funny, silly stories you can tell over and over. It warms your broken hearts. If there's anything I can do please lean on me. Love and Hugs to you both,
Darlene Beasley

Sending condolences and prayers to the family. My daughter and I lived in the house years ago next to his Grandma Thrapp. I remember Gary and Ryan visiting her and chatting with his dad a few times. So sorry for such a young man to leave this mortal world so early, only God must have His plan. Prayers
