Miles Jones Obituary

Miles Li'Ran Jones

Miles Li'Ran Jones was granted his angel wings on Wednesday, October 28, 2020. He was born on April 19, 2003, in St. Louis, MO. Miles was a senior at Westfield-Washington High School (Westfield, IN) - Class of 2021.

Miles was musically inclined, lettered in concert band playing the trumpet. Miles graced us with his beautiful singing voice, which was passed down from a musically talented family. He found comfort in painting, drawing, and ceramics, which are proudly displayed in his home.

Miles enjoyed spending time with his family exploring historical monuments, deep-sea fishing, hiking, bonfires by the lake, music, concerts, collecting sneakers, and attending car shows. He and his mother created the art of "slurbing", always keeping their conversations deep, educational but light-hearted. One of his greatest loves was traveling.

Miles was an impeccable dresser with an eccentric taste in clothing. Miles was one-of-kind. He was a jokester and loved pulling pranks on family and friends. We all were able to create beautiful memories, and it has been a privilege to know Miles throughout his 17 years on this earth.

Miles is survived by his loving parents Kenneth R., Jr. and Lisa Porter-Jones; sister, Kayla Porter; brother, Corbin Jones. Grandmother Ethel D. Jones and grandparents James E. Jr. and Georgia Porter; Many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends from all over the world. He was preceded in death by his great grandparents Elmer and Helen McQuitty, of Columbia, MO, and grandad Kenneth R. Jones Sr, of St. Louis, MO.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 5 at 2:22 pm at Bethel AME Church 17777 Little Chicago Rd. Noblesville, where family and friends are invited to gather from 12:00 noon until the time of the service.

Contributions may be made to Suicide Prevention at IN Center for Youth Abuse and Suicide or LGBTQ+ C/O Indy pride, Inc. With Miles' passing, we are reminded that his life is one to be celebrated; although we will miss him every day, he will always remain forever in our hearts.

My child was a classmate of Miles’ and didn’t know he was struggling. My child just came out in April. I wish they could have come to know each other and my child could have been a support for him. I’m so sorry to his family.

My heart aches to hear this news. It was such a privilege to spend 3rd and 5th grade with Miles at Carey Ridge and Westfield Intermediate. That beautiful smile of his made my day. Miles truly was gifted. I have so many fond memories of Miles. I am now teaching in Arizona, or I would be there in person to celebrate his life.
