Prayers to the Bennett family. Jim will be missed!

I am privileged to say I knew Jim since January 1977 when I arrived at PNB as a new boy from South Africa. Our friendship was cemented when Jim was sent to London in 1985 and he and I sat on the Board of PNB's Merchant Bank. Everyone knows what a fine representative of PNB Jim was in the US but few know how he and Margo excelled themselves in London.
I am so glad I had few days last December when I was able to stay with Jim and Margo and catch up on old times. Jim was one of a great cadre of representatives that PNB had around the world and we will all miss his unflagging charm and genuine warmth.

We feel blessed to have met Jim at Courtney's lacrosse games. He was clearly a very proud grandfather who loved his family dearly. Our love and prayers go out to the Bennett family. The Dray Family

I first met Jim when I began my career at PNB in 1979. Although we never worked in the same department, the bank was small enough in those days that you could know everyone. I'll always remember the big send off party he got just before the bank sent him to London for several years. I believe it was 1986 and the party was in the basement cafeteria of the PNB Building. Virtually everyone showed up and it was standing room only to wish ongoing success for a man who was loved and respected by all his colleagues. The other thing I remember fondly are those employee softball games we had in the school ball field that bordered his backyard. Jim was a very competitive guy and very fair. I never heard him speak ill of anyone, the mark of a true gentleman.
Like Walt Schanbacher, I too viewed Jim as a role model for service to Princeton. One of things I most enjoyed in my time as president of the Princeton Club of Philadelphia was the monthly board meetings...because I knew I'd see Jim and have a chance to catch up on what was going on with him after he retired from the bank.
Now that he's gone my heartfelt condolences to Margo, his children and the rest of his family.

I am very sad to hear of Jim's passing. He was a special man, a loyal Princetonian and a valued member of the Princeton Club of Philadelphia's board. I will always remember how supportive he was of me and the other women leaders of the club. He was so friendly, cheerful, sensible and was full of good ideas about how to advance our club's mission in the community. He will be missed very much within our club.
I also got to know Jim as the proud grandfather of Eliza and Courtney, two Dartmouth lacrosse players. Jim was very proud to take off the orange and black and put on his green attire to cheer them on. I always enjoyed seeing him at the games.
To Margo, Jay, Mary, Eliza, Courtney and the rest of your family, please know i am thinking of you at this difficult time.

To Margo and Family, This is a terrible loss for all of us--not just the PCOP, but all of us, personally and individually. Jim's presence in every single aspect of the Club's work was not only crucial, it was, well, reassuring. I confess that I always viewed Jim as my "barometer" on many issues. His sense and sensibility were unmatched, and his care for our personal lives spoke volumes about him. I will never, ever forget his generosity of time and spirit to me as I "learned the ropes" with the PCOP, but I will more importantly never forget his huge heart, great smile, and welcoming spirit. As I have said, he has always been one of my heroes, and I cannot imagine a meeting or event without Jim's wonderful presence. Our hearts go out to all of you. Walt

To Margo and Family,
Jim was a classic example to me of why we all love Princeton so much--it is always about the people, and Jim was the best. I will never, ever forget how kind and generous he was to me as I "learned the ropes" as a rookie on the Board of the PCOP. He never expected thanks, and deflected praise--the mark of a great man. He was loyal and dedicated to "the best old place of all," but was also very, very proud of his children's and grandchildren's successes elsewhere, which speaks volumes. Pride simply poured from him, every time he talked about his family. He was one of the wisest, nicest, kindest and most observant fellows I ever met, and I will miss him terribly. Please be well, in your memories of a very special man. Best, Walt

Jim was a warm, gracious and generous mentor and friend. He took me under his wing when I was a new arrival in the area and shared with me (and many, many others) his infectious enthusiasm for supporting Princeton. I will miss his unflappable optimism, his friendship and his smile. My heartfelt condolences to Jim's family.

Jim, You are gone but not forgotten! Each time a tennis ball goes past me down the alley I will think of you. Each time I have breakfast at MCC you will be there cheering me up. On Sunny days at BMPC as the colors of the stained glass reflect on the walls, you will be there. God bless you and your family. K

Jim was a prince among men, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and Princetonian. Bill and I were honored to know him through Princeton, Merion and BMPC. I am devastated by the loss of such a good soul, and my heart is warmed that his gifts survive through his family and all of his many good works. It is comforting to think that his funeral will be held on Reunions weekend.

This is such terrible news. It has stopped me in my tracks.
Jim was so incredibly kind and generous of spirit; and while I considered him a very manly man, I can't think of a better word than "sweet" to describe him. This is heartbreaking news. He was one of those warm souls I looked forward to seeing at every Princeton event and expected to be able to catch-up with again soon.
My heart goes out to Margo and to all of Jim's family, each member of whom, he spoke of so proudly. My deepest condolences...what a laugh, and what a smile we'll all be missing.
