Claire-

It has been almost twenty years since I last talked to Jack -- during our days at Fred's. My memories are of an outgoing, funny, intelligent and charasmatic guy who often spoke with pride of of his wife and family. He was one of those people you meet who brought a smile to your face whenever who heard his name. My deepest sympathy to you and your family for your loss but I know as we think of Jack he is smiling back at you and your sons.

Dear Claire,
So glad mom and I had lunch with you and Jack recently. A lot has happened since then...and I'm sure my brother John (Clair) is thrilled to have Jack filling heaven with his love and humor... but we'll miss him down here!

When I moved to Berwyn as a neighbor, Jack was one of the first people to introduced himself. Shortly afterwards I jokingly would call him the "unofficial mayor of Berwyn" when I saw him; a title that we laughed about together. He always had a smile, a laugh and a hug for everyone.

Jack will be missed by his family of St Monica parishoners. He was always entertaining the children. Very dedicated to pro life and a long standing member of the Holy Name Society. He had a way of making you feel important and he always left me with a smile on my face. Our prayers are with you Claire and we all love you very much.

One of my best memories of Jack was when we were roomates at one of the Fred's sales meetings. Staying up at night with him and just listening to his stories was the best. He is one of the all-time greats.

I will never forget the great times we had a Fred's. Jack was my mentor and one of the greatest salesman I will ever know. It was a blessing to me that Dave Wells and I took the time to call Jack last month.

Claire, JP & Luke;
Dixie and I have so many fond memories of the times we had the privledge of spending with Jack and Claire. A couple of times in the period 1965 to 1969, we were visiting Uncle Bill Weber and he always arranged for us to have meals with you. We would go out of our way to be able to be with you and Jack. There are many of Jack's friends in heaven, and I am sure my dad (Ernest) was standing in the front line at the gate to greet him, what a reunion.

Jack was the greatest. loved by all his colleagues at Freds. I have many memories of times we were together. Even though I have not been in touch for years, I still would remember him from time to time.He was a true pioneer in the foodservice world and a Hall of Fame salesperson through and through.

Claire,

Your phone voice floods us with happy memories and indeed, Jack is regaling St Patrick with reams of salesman jokes and life-lore. He was our Irish smile and my mentor with a spirit whose stories travelled with Susan and me through these years.

We are with you this week and feel even closer now knowing he's resting.

Heaven -
Watch out St. Peter, if he has a mind to do it, there will be a lot of strange things happening up there and down here on earth with no rhyme or reason other than whimsy and humor and love.
(We have memories of attending Nixon's inaugural ball sans invitation but with Jack's smooth talk)

JP and Luke-
Take his spirit and love and continue to spread it throughout the world. We have too few Jack Prendergasts in our lives.

Fondly,
Susan and Jim Zarnowiecki
