Henry Stainken Obituary

Henry August Stainken (Hap) Sunday morning, September 30, 2012 at 9:00 am the angels came to take Henry August Stainken (Hap) back to heaven and his heavenly father. After years of a valiant struggle with juvenile diabetes, heart and kidney disease he is at peace with the Lord. Born April 26, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY, Hap, son of Henry and Eileen Stainken, beloved husband of Patricia Ann, father of Michael, Michelle, and Mark, brother to Dennis, grandfather of Christopher and Matthew Stainken, Megan, Molly, and Melissa Murphy, Owen and Jenna Stainken, and great-grandfather to Christopher Stainken. Graduate of Curtis H.S., Wagner College, NY State University (BS Management Science AA Liberal Arts). Hap served his country for 10 yrs including 4 yrs with the National Guard at Staten Island and 6 yrs active duty as a US Army Helicopter Pilot. Flying border patrols for 3 years in Germany where he achieved the rank of Chief Warrrant Officer CWO-2. After serving his country, Hap flew for New York Airways as a helicopter airline pilot. Following his days as an airline pilot he pursued his passion of aviation for 31 years with Link Aviation Flight Simulator and Training Company in Binghamton, NY where he was appointed to Director of Worldwide Joint Venture Developments following positions in Manager Support Operations of International Business and Marketing Management. Retired in Sun City Hilton Head SC Hap and the love of his life, wife, friend, and partner Pat Ann enjoyed the many new friends that he met while following his passions of golf, dancing, and sailing. Hap was a member of the Sun City Model Yacht Racing Club, Ball Room Dance Club, Square Dance Club, Round Dance Club, and the Sun City Veterans Association. Hap was a member of the Saint Gregory's parish. He was a deeply spiritual man with an unfaltering faith and will be missed by his friends and family. The family will receive friends Friday, October 5, 2012 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton from 3-5 pm with a Wake Service at 4pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am, Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 333 Fording Island Road, Bluffton with Burial at Beaufort National Cemetery Monday, October 8, 2012 at 10:00am.
