MERCEDES DELUNA NAVARRO

Mercedes DeLuna Navarro passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 7, 2023. She was born on September 24, 1926, in Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico, to Aurelia and Maximilliano DeLuna.

She married Pablo Marzan Navarro, and together they worked side by side and raised their 5 children. Mercedes worked for most of her life in farm labor and in packing sheds. She finally retired in her 80s and enjoyed the remainder of her life as a homemaker. Mercedes loved gardening, her plants, her animals, and her family, but most of all she loved the Lord. She prayed every single day and would always include her family, friends, and anyone who was in need of prayer. For most of her life, Mercedes was a devoted Catholic and a proud member of the Guadalupana Association of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, but she surrendered her life as a Christian. She never lost her faith or love for the Lord.

Mercedes was preceded in death by her loving husband, Pablo; her infant son, Jose; her infant daughter, Christina; and her beloved son, Paul.

She is survived by her sister, Emilia Pascual; sons, Johnny, Tony (Mary), Arturo (Terri); and daughter, Rosa (Chris) Gongora. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christeena (Rabbs), Carlos (Susana), Artie, Michael (Teresa), Frances, Micaela, T.J., Cassandra, Alexis, and Christopher; and great-grandchildren, Zoe, Jace, and Carlos.

Services will be held at Hems Brothers Mortuary on Thursday, March 23, 2023, from 6-9 p.m. Final viewing will be Friday, March 24, 2023, at Hems Brothers Mortuary from 10-11 a.m. with a graveside service at Evergreen to follow immediately.

The family would like to thank Jessica Ruiz, NP, Dr. Zadeh, ECRMC Radiology, and her nurses, Angela and Lorena from Imperial Valley Hospice, for their wonderful care and excellent service. Thank you for making her feel comfortable.
