SALVADOR PACHECO Obituary

SALVADOR T. PACHECO JR

Mar. 28, 1946 – Apr. 28, 2025

Salvador Pacheco Jr. passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025, surrounded by his loving family in Murrieta, California.

Born in Los Angeles, California, to Salvador and Aida Pacheco, Salvador was one of four siblings. He married his high school sweetheart, Vicky Meza, on September 3, 1968, and they shared 57 years of marriage. Together, Salvador and Vicky lovingly raised their two children: Anna Virginia (married to David Guizar) and Salvador III (married to Claudia Iliana Pacheco).

Sal devoted his time to his grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and his many nieces and nephews. His siblings include his late twin brother, Leovigildo (married to Rosemary Pacheco), Lewis (married to Anna Lisa Pacheco), and Sammy (married to Marcia Pacheco).

Sal worked as a Transportation Supervisor for Imperial County Behavioral Health. His dedication to public service included serving as a Calexico Unified School Board member, founding board member of IVROP (2002), Delegate Assembly Board Member for CSBA's 18B Imperial County district for six years (2010), and Chairperson for Relay for Life in Calexico. He was also past President of Calexico Little League, Past President of Sunset Babe Ruth League, and a former Board Director of Calexico Pop Warner. Sal even worked part-time at the Calexico Walmart, joking that he took the job because he was "bored at home."

Sal enjoyed watching his Rams, Lakers, and Dodgers, dancing, eating popcorn, hot dogs, and enjoying Coke and coffee. He loved attending community events, supporting his Calexico High Bulldogs, and, most of all, spending time with his family.

A celebration of life will be held on May 19, 2025, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Calexico. The funeral Mass will follow on May 20, 2025, at 10 a.m., also at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Calexico.

He was one of my Little League coaches, he and Leo. I loved baseball more than any other sport, but except for the fact that I couldn't hit, run or field, I would have been OK. Sal and his brother were kind to me as a player on their Rotary Red Sox team. I got to play a little, so I found out then and remember today the feeling of stepping into the batter's box or try to catch a fly ball in the outfield. I felt they gave me the best shot they could and I was and will always be grateful for that. Their younger brother Lewis and I were briefly college roommates for a year when he was at San Diego State and I was at Grossmont Community College in San Diego. The Pachecos were and still are a good family, good community members and Sal will be missed by me. God Bless the Pacheco Family, all of them and Rest in Peace, Sal.

My condolences to the Pacheco family. I worked with Sal and his son at the Sam´s Club in Calexico prior to its closure. Sal was always in good spirits and willing to lend a helping hand. May he rest in peace.
