Betsy Needham Obituary

Betsy Marie Needham

lafayette - Betsy Marie Needham, 47, of Lafayette passed away unexpectedly Saturday, January 23, 2021.

Betsy was born in Lafayette on April 10th, 1973 to John and Carolyn Needham. She was a graduate of Harrison High School and attended Ivy Tech. Betsy enjoyed working at Trish's Red Bird Café and Alpine Clinic for many years.

She was loved by many and will be missed by all. Her happy place was on the beaches of The Gulf Of Mexico, the sound of the waves made her feel at peace with the world.

Betsy Marie was as charismatic and free spirited as they come. Most nights Betsy could be found walking with her beloved dog Sarge, or taking a golf cart ride through the woods to her favorite secluded spot. If you were lucky enough to be close to Betsy, she would take you along on the golf cart and tell you stories as you traveled to the rope swing.

Betsy was very proud of her green thumb and loved taking care of her plants. She talked to her lemon tree as she made it a daily ritual.

Betsy loved being around her friends and family, when this happened a good time was had by all. She looked forward to cooking for everyone and made sure you were smiling.

Betsy, also enjoyed taking motorcycle trips with her fiancé, Mike Crowell.

She was preceded in death by her father John Needham and her daughter Hannah Mae Blair.

Surviving Betsy is her fiancé Michael Crowell; her mother Carolyn Needham; her children Riley (Jason Bogert) Needham, Chase Blair, and Grace Blair, all of Lafayette; her step daughter Korbyn Crowell; her brother Scott (Christine) Needham and their children Lexi Needham and Drew Needham, her brother Joe Needham (Krista Knight) of Monticello, her sister Susan Needham and her children Kayla and Peyton, her brother in law Scott (Pamela) Crowell, Patience, Aubrey, Austin, Ava, and Avery; Betsy had four grandchildren that she adored and fawned over, Beckham Spicer, Abraham Bogert, Kane Spicer, and Jaxon Bogert.

Services will be held at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens with visitation starting at 2PM and service commencing at 4PM. Monday, Feb. 1.

You were are awesome I met you when you were living with my dad as his roommate and he introduced me as your sister. He cared so much for you. You watched over me like a over protective sister does, and we have so many memories and late night talks for me to remember thank you for them! Please wrap your arms around my dads neck for me and tell him I love him. I hope you are at rest and Hannah and you watch over us and keep us safe. You are truly missed thank you for being there when I needed you! Tell we all meet again! Love you!!!

I met her when she moved to Mulberry where she then worked at the corner bar. I taught her how to carry like about a dozen beers at one time with out a tray. Rusty the owner came to me after and and said Betsy said" Mika is Awesome" her and I hit it off immediately. We then became friends. I helped her numerous times several times with Tim in good times and in bad. We ran into to each other at a Motley Crue concert in Indy. She couldnt remember where her and a friend parked. So I took them home. We talked about winning the lottery on the way home lol. ?? We had deep conversations on and off over the years. In late March 2020 maybe early April she texted me said she just wanted to let me know she loved me like she always did. Betsy LOVED her kids to infinity and beyond. Very very very very very very very much. And then some. I too loved her very very very very very very much. She was a gleam of light. ALWAYS! I know alot of people who felt the same way. She will TRULY be missed. We are all heartbroken over the loss of her here on earth. In my heart forever Bets. Mika

My sincerest condolences to Carolyn, Susan, Scott, Joe and her children and grandchildren. I have so many fun memories of Betsy and I in our grade school years especially when we all lived in Chauncey Village. From playing Barbies for hours, making up dances to “Thriller” and “Grease”, many, many hours of swimming in the pool, running around the apartment complex like we owned it, and winning a few races together at Skate Away. Although as we grew up we went different ways. We found ourselves back in touch when I helped coach my niece Alexis and Gracies soccer team when they were 7. With all memories aside I am truly saddened by her early departure on earth. I was blessed to have her as a friend. May God hold you all close and give you the comfort you need. Rest In Peace Betsy.

My sincerest condolences to Carolyn, Susan, Scott, and Joe along with her children and grandchildren. It has been over 40 years since I have seen her. She is beautiful, just as she was as a little girl that I had the privilege to watch. May you all receive God's peace, grace and comfort at this time of her loss.
