Harry Larsen Obituary

RACINE - Harry E. Larsen, 89, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan Health Care - All Saints. Harry was born in Racine on December 1, 1921, the son of the late Victor and Anna (nee: Steigman) Larsen. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Eichsteadt in Shreveport, La. on November 6, 1943. Harry served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church for many years. Harry was employed at Precise Corporation, now known as Fischer-Precise. In his earlier years, Harry found enjoyment in golfing and he always enjoyed repairing anything that needed repair, especially for others. His handywork extended to anyone who needed something fixed or a helping hand. Harry is survived by his wife of 67 years, Evelyn; and children, Dave (Maggie) Larsen and Ellen (Mark) Petersen, all of Racine. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Kate (Phil) Barbier of St. Louis, Mo., Greg (Crystal) Larsen, and Robert Evinic, both of Racine. He is further survived by great- granddaughters, Clara and Elise Barbier of St. Louis, Mo.; brother, Gordon Larsen of Sun City, Ariz.; together with nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by an infant son; brothers, Wallace and Lawrence Larsen; and sister, Helen Jensen. Funeral services for Harry will be held at Emmaus Lutheran Church, 1925 Summit Avenue, on Friday, April 15, 2011, at 12 noon with Rev. Mary Janz officiating. He will be laid to rest at West Lawn Memorial Park following services. Visitation will be held at church on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until service time at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Emmaus Lutheran Church; or Wheaton Franciscan Hospice, 1055 Prairie Drive, Racine, Wis. 53406, in Harry's name would be appreciated. The Larsen family would like to extend a very special thank you to Rev. Mary Janz for her friendship and spiritual support; R.N. Mary Jensen for her professional and compassionate care; Wheaton Franciscan Health Care - All Saints, Unit 2D; and Dr. Brady Welsh and Dr. Michael Mullane for all their care and professional guidance. Dear Evie, Dave and Ellie --

What a loss you and your families must be feeling. Even though I would try to stop in to see Harry and Evie on infrequent trips to Racine, I haven't been back for a long time, I feel the loss, too. He was always a special person to me. Harry was one of the kindest, most gentle, thoughtful man I have known. My memories of him and the entire Larsen family are all good ones and will remain in my heart and mind. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I hope that your loving memories of Harry help you through these next couple of weeks and months and sustain you through the years to come. I think of Harry and your families often and smile when I do. Much love to you all.

Dear Eve and family;
We will always remember the wonderful times the Bredemeier's and the Larsen shared. Harry was a great guy and we share your sorrow. We fondly remeber those camp-out up north and Harry flipping pancakes.

Uncle Harry was a warm hearted and very friendly man who always had a joke, always had a hug for me the rare times we saw each other through the years, and who continued to carry on the stories of my family's past when all the other elders of my family had gone on. Thank you Uncle Harry....God Bless!
Your great niece,
