I did not have the pleasure of knowing Matt personally, but so many spoke very highly of him. I cannot begin to imagine the pain and sorrow that you must be enduring at this time, however I hope the the words at Psalms 119: 50 will ease the pain. I pray that God continue to be with you and really be a source of consolation.

I treasure the memories I have of Matt, what a tremendous sense of humor! He is the proginator of the term "The Burns Factor." Which has been embraced by my family as the reason why if something can go wrong, it will in the Burns family. But it was Matt who gave it a name when I was delineating all the crazy things that had happened to me, and it seemed as forces beyond my control were conspiring against me. The Burns Factor was even mentioned at my wedding, where incidently Jennifer caught the bouquet! All my love and thoughts are with Jennifer, the girls and Matt's entire family.

I worked with Matt as a staff attorney when he first started with Racine County. We went to many Brewer games and Matt was always up for a great tailgate! We also shared a passion for the Packers, watching the Super Bowl together with our families. Matt was taken way too soon. I miss him dearly.

My deepest sympathies to Matt's family. I joined Matt's fraternity at the UW a few years after he had joined. He was a great guy to be around. I have a heavy heart today as I hear of his passing.

Matt will be missed by all who knew him. I knew him first as a coworker, then as a friend, and grew to like him more with every passing year. I feel blessed to have spent countless hours of fun and joyful good times with Matt, Jennifer, and their family over the past 11 years. We shared more laughter during that time than many people will in a lifetime. I will treasure the memories we shared all the days of my life.

I posted a photo here that I took of Matt in 2004.
