Robert K. "Kloppy" Kloppenburg

Kloppenburg, Robert K. "Kloppy" Born to life October 15, 1930. Entered Eternal Life December 24, 2017. He was a loving husband of over 65 years to Trudie (Viall), adored father of Katherine (Rodger), Robert, Jr. (Susan), Douglas (Krista), and Stephen (Stephanie), special grandfather of Matt, Abby, Brooks, Drew, Lindsay, Emma, Sam, and Theo. Further survived by his sister, Sally Conley, and many relatives and friends. Born in Milwaukee, "Kloppy" was a graduate of Milwaukee Country Day School, where he was a varsity athlete in hockey, football and baseball. He graduated from Exeter Academy and Yale University, where he played varsity hockey. He served with honor in the US Marine Corps, and had a 40+ year career with Northwestern Mutual. Kloppy was devoted to family, friends, and athletics, serving as coach for numerous little league baseball and youth hockey teams. He held a special love for the outdoors, and enjoyed time at his cabin in the north woods, and spent hours photographing birds and other wildlife. He was pre-deceased by his son Douglas, and brothers Jack and Jerry. A memorial service will be held TODAY, Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 10:00 AM, at Christ Church, 5655 N. Lake Drive, Whitefish Bay. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Kloppy's name to the Evans Scholars caddie education program, or American Heart Association.
