Robert Curtright Obituary

Curtright, Robert Eugene "Bob" Longtime arts writer, movie critic and television columnist for The Wichita Eagle, passed away December 11, 2016. He was born August 27, 1944 in Kansas City, MO, the only child of Leslie Odean Curtright and Wilma Jean (Kraus) Curtright. They lived in Kansas City, KS, until they bought a farm near Louisburg. Bob graduated from Louisburg High School as valedictorian in 1962, and received his bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Kansas William Allen White School of Journalism in 1966. Bob worked for the Coffeyville Journal from 1969-1974, and for The Eagle from 1974-2006. Bob was president of the Televison Critics Association from 1997-1999. He continued to work as a freelance writer after his retirement. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; uncles; aunts and cousins. Survivors include: two aunts, Lettie Vogel of Kansas City, MO, and Ida Duermyer of North Kansas City; two uncles, Clayton Curtright of Shawnee, and Leland Curtright of Olathe; and several cousins. Private services.

Bob and I were classmates at the University of Kansas. He always struck me as a decent, interesting young man. I am sorry to learn that he has passed away, which I learned of only today.
