To the Blue family: I share in your grieving, as I learned my favorite coach has been called home. Coach Blue was my defense back coach at West high. I learned to play with more heart and passion after affectionately being called lollygagger a few times. It still makes me smile today thinking about him. I was just communicating with a west alumni over the holidays about the hall of fame inductees and it's so exciting to know the honor was bestowed on him while he was still with us. Continually in our prayer

My most sincere condolences to your family for the loss of (Mike)Coach Blue. I played baseball at East High 1972-76, Mike was our JV Coach and PE teacher. During batting practice, I remember a major league curve ball-slider, that I don't think anyone ever hit or touched. A knuckle ball that crawled up to the plate and disappeared. Coach we all miss you!!

To Coach Blue's family, thank you for sharing Coach with so many students. He was one of my favorite teachers while at West High and I'm sure MANY will tell you the same. How many students did he help to put behind the wheel of a car (or in may case a truck). May you find peace at this time. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Coach Blue made a huge impact in my life, and many others during the football, baseball, and more at Wichita West High School. He has taught me how to be a team player and a leader, which has impacted my everyday life from my military service to this very day. I am going to miss him very much.

Judy, Dawn, Bradley and Shannon, I offer my most sincere condolences to your family for the loss of this wonderful man. Mike was a major influence in my life, as a new assistant coach at East High School, he took a young left-handed pitcher under his wing and taught me how to throw a "major league curve ball"! With Mike's guidance and patience, I received a full scholarship to play baseball at the University of Kansas. I remain thankful that he was an important part of my life. To so many of us at that age, he was a Father figure, a Big Brother, a Friend! There will be many stories told of Mike as we celebrate his life, and so many of them will be joyous and funny, because he embraced life with laughter and a great sense of humor. I know your hearts are breaking, but there will be many of us here to help you through this difficult time. Please accept our thanks for sharing him with the rest of us for so many years.
