Michael Allender

HILLSBOROUGH - Michael Joseph Allender, 54, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Duke Regional Hospital. He was born in Lexington, KY, son of Mary Ellen Gentry Allender and the late John Spalding Allender. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Matthew Spalding Allender. He was an Electrical Engineer with Star Electric in NC. Mr. Allender is survived by his wife, Shirley Hughes Allender; daughter, Ashley Marie Allender; son Aaron Michael Allender, all of Durham; brothers, John Rodes Allender (Cynthia) of Brentwood, TN, Stephen Gentry Allender (Gay) of Johnstown, Ohio; sisters, Nancy A. Jones of Versailles, KY, Lynn Tipton (Wesley) of Corbin, KY; mother-in-law, Avenell Hughes; several nieces, nephews and many friends. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday at Clements Funeral Chapel in Hillsborough with Rev. Leah Rade officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The family would like to thank the many nurses, doctors, family and friends who provided such great and loving care for Michael.
