Taskel Dishman Obituary

Taskel Dishman

Knoxville, TN

Taskel Leon Dishman, age 86, left this world on Sunday, November 5, 2017. He was a wonderful man, a devoted husband and a loving father. He was born and spent his young years in Robbins, Tennessee, and his later youth in Blount County. When he was 16, he joined the US Army, serving honorably for two stints in Korea and Japan. Back home in Knoxville, he worked in Oak Ridge 35 years for Y-12. Taskel enjoyed fishing, especially at the family cabin at the Top O' the World community in Blount County. He enjoyed traveling in the US and abroad. And he enjoyed eating and talking. He never met a stranger.

Taskel was preceded in death by parents Carl and Lilly Raines Dishman; brother, Bill Dishman; half-sister, Willadean Dishman; and step-mother Bessie Dishman.

He is survived by loving wife of 65 years Edith "Bobbi" Dishman; daughter, Mitzi Dishman Congleton and husband Greg; brother, Jimmie Dishman and wife Dorothy; half-brother Jerry Dishman; numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the devoted caregivers at UT Hospital, Hospice, and IHP Health and Rehab.

Family and friends will meet at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 2300 E. Governor John Sevier Highway for a 11:30, Monday, November 13, 2017 graveside service with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Young-Williams Animal Shelter, 3201 Division Street, Knoxville, TN 37919.

To the family of Taskel Dishman, I am so very sorry for your loss. I am just now seeing that he passed and am heartbroken. He was such a sweet and kind man. He kept in touch with me because of the DOE sick workers program and he called and sent emails and we would see each other at meetings. I send my deepest and most heartfelt condolences to you all. He will be missed. Janet Michel
