Joan Stannard, age 88, of Knoxville, Tennessee, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 26, 2018. A wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and pet owner. Joan was also a talented artist and a former member of the Mount Pleasant Art Guild and a member of the Church of the Holy Cross.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Porter; sons, Douglas and Craig; parents, Gordon and Amy Munce and sister, Audrey. Joan is survived by son, Brian Stannard and wife, Kerri; daughters, Carole Stannard Aikman and Leslie Sheldon; grandchildren, Zeke and Emily Stannard, Andrew Aikman, Princess, Hunter, and Chandler Sheldon; nieces, Pam Rocchiccioli and Brooke Baker and many other family and friends.

The family would like to extend their deep appreciation for the excellent and compassionate care provided to Joan by the following individuals and facilities: Ms. Regina Cervantes of Somerby of Mt. Pleasant, Dr. David Harrison of Tennova Medical Group, The University of Tennessee Medical Center, U.T. Hospice, Morning Pointe of Powell, and West Hills Health and Rehab. The family would also like to thank Beaver Ridge United Methodist Church for their kindness and prayers. A memorial service will be held at the Beaufort (SC) National Cemetery at a later date.
