Tom Otto Obituary

Tom Otto passed away on Friday, October 6, 2017 at home. He was born in Los Angeles on October 30, 1941 to Lorraine and James Otto. He attended South Pasadena schools and graduated from South Pasadena High School in 1960. In 1964, he married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Hardenbergh Otto. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, and his two children, Julie Otto and Tom Otto, Jr. (Ruthie), and four beloved grandchildren: Sam, Jacob, Rosie, and Warren. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Brain & Behavior Research Foundation, 90 Park Ave., 16th Floor, NY, NY 10016.A service honoring Tom's life will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, November 16th, 2017 at The University Club in Pasadena.

The Otto's were good friends of my parents, so I knew Tom since I was just a kid. Tom was always friendly, he made me laugh every time I saw him. When I got older Tom used to let me work in his computers which is something I'll never forget. He trusted in me and my abilities to build and fix him computers. I remember he had RAID arrays in his home computers, not many people would have that lol but Tom was also a computer geek like me. Ultimately, Tom was my friend, I'm very saddened by his passing. Take care, Tom, you're missed sir. -Steve Di Bias

Tom will be remembered for his social gifts, strong work ethic and love for friends and family. I will certainly miss his exuberance and warm greetings. He could recall a detail and draw out the individual. My heart is with all who knew and loved him. May these blessings in his legacy live on in his children, grandchildren and beyond.
