Annabelle Dahl Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 10, 2025.
Annabelle Lee Horchitz Dahl, a longtime resident of Pasadena, passed away on November 8, 2025, at the age of 92.

Born in Hollywood to Leon and Ruth Horchitz, Annabelle was raised in San Marino and attended South Pasadena-San Marino schools. She graduated from Stanford University in 1955 with a degree in American History. It was at Stanford that she met her husband, Dr. David Jay Dahl. Following David's medical training and military service in Germany, the couple settled in Pasadena to raise their family.

Annabelle entered law school in her forties, passing the bar at fifty years old. She established a practice in Estate, Probate, and Family Law and dedicated many hours to the Legal Aid Society. She remained active well into her eighties, enjoying skiing, tennis, and international travel-including volunteer stints teaching English in Poland and Hungary. She will be remembered for her determined nature, her love of puns, and her unreserved support of family.

Annabelle was a devoted member of the community. As a parishioner at St. Edmund's Church, she served on the vestry and was instrumental in funding the Scripps Home. Her civic involvement included the Pasadena Junior Philharmonic Committee (Showcase House), the Convalescent Aid Society, and the Caltech Associates.

Annabelle was predeceased by her parents, her sister Marjorie Telleen, and her husband, David. She is survived by her children: James (Mary Colmar), Susan (Bill Cohn), Gregory (Jo Dee Koller), and Janet (Grant Willcox); and her grandchildren: Mic, Christopher, Caroline Dahl, Charlotte Cohn, Alexander Thelen and Katy, Elise Willcox.

A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Edmund's Church, 1175 San Gabriel Blvd., San Marino, CA 91108, on December 16, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County (NLSLA) at nlsla.org.
