James Harris Obituary

JAMES DELANO HARRIS James Delano Harris, aged 90, of Swink, CO, passed away on July 7th, 2025. Born on October 23, 1934, James was a cherished member of his community and a pillar of strength for his family and friends. James attended Cheraw High School and proudly served in the US Army, completing his training at Fort Bliss, TX. His military service was marked by dedication and a deep commitment to his country. After his service, James returned to his roots in Colorado where he established and operated Harris Bros Glass & Body Shop in La Junta with his brother, Benny, for over 30 years. His work was not just a career but a testament to his craftsmanship and entrepreneurial spirit. A man of many interests, James had a profound love for the outdoors. He spent many joyful times fishing, hunting, camping, and tending to his garden. His love for playing cards, cooking, and playing checkers was well-known among his friends and family, bringing joy and laughter to many gatherings. James was a loving and faithful husband, a wise and supportive father, and a generous, caring friend. His life was a living example of dedication and kindness. He is survived by his wife, Carol, his sons, Doug and Mike, his sisters, Shirley, Carol, and Sharon as well as four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Goldie, and his siblings, Jerry, Sonny, Benny, Pat, and Jean. James leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and enduring spirit. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
