Veronica Ogas Obituary

Veronica Ogas, a life-long resident of Las Vegas, N.M. passed away peacefully on May 2, 2021, lovingly surrounded by her family at the age of 67, at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, N.M.
Veronica was born January 23, 1954 to Roman and Victoria Lucero in Las Vegas, N.M.
Veronica was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Pete and Roman Lucero all from Las Vegas, N.M.; and nephew Jamie Ogas of Roswell, N.M.
Veronica is survived by her husband Mike Ogas; daughter Christiane Ogas (Eric Hester) of Pueblo, Colo.; grand-children, Cory Yara, of Las Vegas, N.M., and Victoria (Tori) Ogas of Phoenix, Ariz.; great-grandchildren, Leianna and Michael Yara; sister Christine Slade; and brother Anthony Lucero, both of Albuquerque, N.M.; nephews, Kenneth Archuleta (Geraldine) of Las Vegas, N.M., Lorenzo Ogas (Missy) of Las Vegas, Nev., Ben Ogas of Albuquerque, N.M., David Ogas of Tex., Michael Anthony Ogas (Melissa) of Mountain Home, Idaho, Danny Ogas (Tracy) of Fla.; especially close cousin Minnie Roybal of Las Vegas, N.M.; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins.
Veronica was married to Mike on April 10, 1976, and had recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary.
Veronica was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, niece and friend.
After graduating from Robertson High School in 1971 she took a job at the NM State Hospital where she worked for 25 years. She then retired and devoted her time to caring for her grandchildren and family. She loved family gatherings such as birthdays, holidays, picnics or just getting together for no particular reason.
She enjoyed baking and was exceptional at it. One of Veronica's favorite pastimes was taking long countryside car rides with her husband and trying local restaurants. She particularly liked northern NM scenery. In her earlier years she enjoyed traveling, bowling, camping and outdoor activities. She will greatly be missed but will be celebrated at future family gatherings.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Riverside Funeral Home, 3232 Cerrillos Rd, Santa Fe, NM 87507. Services will be scheduled at a later date.
