Michael R. Forman

April 11, 1935 - January 29, 2019 Michael R. Forman, Chairman of the Board and CEO of The Decurion Corporation, passed away on January 29, 2019. Decurion is the parent company to ArcLight Cinemas, Pacific Theatres, Robertson Properties Group, and Hollybrook Senior Living. He was born April 11, 1935 in Seattle, Washington to William and Dorothy (Danz) Forman. He moved to Los Angeles after attending Stanford University, where he received a bachelor's degree in economics in 1957. A notable philanthropist, Mr. Forman's charitable activities included serving as international chairman of the board of Variety-The Children's Charity; as a life trustee of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, and as trustee emeritus of the American Film Institute. He also worked with the Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem, where he was Vice-President and the Founders Chairman of the Los Angeles area. He continued to work with the Los Angeles Committee for the Weizmann Institute, where he was chairman of the Southwest Area, until shortly before his death.He lent his time and support to a number of other organizations and causes. He had served as a trustee of the American University, located in Washington, D.C.; trustee of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; President of the Foundation of Motion Picture Pioneers; President of the Stanford Athletic Board of Stanford University; and a Director of the California Chamber of Commerce.Mr. Forman was preceded in death by his parents William and Dorothy. He is survived by his spouse, Malsi Doyle; sister, JoAnne Mars; his sons, Christopher (Margaret) and Thomas (Doris); his daughter, Suzy; his grandchildren Tait (Nessa), Rafe, Parker, and Dylan; his niece Jana Levy (Doug, Sophie and Emma); and extended family.The family will hold a private memorial service in his honor. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Variety–The Children's Charity in Mr. Forman's name.
