Ruth Blosser Obituary

July 1930 - June 2016 People will remember Ruth's smile and laughter, but her devotion to family was most special. In 1952 she married Julius Markowitz with whom she had three children, building the family she did not have in her youth. She remarried in 1982 to Dick Blosser with whom she traveled and enjoyed life until his death in 2013. In her career, Ruth worked in a Hematology lab, then in her husband's medical office. She returned to college in the late '60's to obtain a business degree from Cal State Fullerton. She became a real estate broker and ran a property management firm. Ruth loved crosswords, bridge, knitting, calligraphy and other hobbies. She enjoyed supporting her family's many needs and activities. She was part of the Fullerton Temple Beth Tikvah community for over 50 years, also being involved with the Fullerton Flying Club, Retired Senior Volunteer Police, the Assistant League, and Emerald Court Retirement Home. She maintained many strong friendships along the way. Ruth spent most of the last 3.5 years of her life caring for her husband, Dick, and her son, David (who suffered from complications related to an accident when he was 15). As David became bed-bound, she was his companion for hours every day so that he would not feel alone. When he passed away in February, it was a crushing blow. Recently she was starting to see the light of life again, participating in family events nearby and far away. She was hoping to feel as good as possible for upcoming events, but that was not to be. Ruth was a woman of class, wisdom, intelligence, warmth and humor. She was intimately involved with her family, and she will be missed every day. Ruth is survived by her: daughters Judy (Shlomo) Sofer of Yorba Linda and Laurie Spence (Dale Harrison) of Ukiah; step-children David Blosser, Pamela Foster, Jim Blosser; grandchildren Oren Kaplan (Kara Luiz/ GGD Winter), Dean Sofer, Leeav Sofer, Herron Spence, G. Daniel Spence; step granddaughter Shannon (Jason/ Sophie, Joshua) Nigro. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard (Dick) Blosser, and son, David Markowitz. Donations may be made to Jewish Federation of the Greater San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys, Cultural Arts, 114A W. Lime Ave., Monrovia, CA 91016
