Sidney Sharp Obituary

May 16, 1919 - October 30, 2013 Violinist Sidney Sharp passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, October 30th. Trained as a classical violinist, he graduated from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. After graduating, he made his way through freelance work on the road with various bands. He then moved to Los Angeles where he worked with Leopold Stokowski at the Hollywood Bowl. In the late 1960 he formed a production company with Renee Hall and Ernie Freeman, which led to The Sid Sharp Strings. He was one of the first classically trained musicians to play on Rock 'n Roll Records. His musical legacy included artists such as The Eagles, The Beach Boys, Neil Diamond and other artists. In 1980 he married the love of his life, violinist Joy Lyle and they lived happily together until she passed in 2010. He is survived by loving Nieces, Nephews, Loving Caregiver's and Friends. The service will be held Sunday, Nov. 3, at Hillside Memorial Park Cemetery, at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers the Family requests donations be made to Cedars Sinai Hospital (Cardio Vascular Dept) in Sidney Sharp's Memory.
