Dorothy Karcher Obituary

Dorothy (Dolly) Karcher was reunited with her husband Donald in Heaven on November 17, 2014 after battling multiple myeloma for ten years. She was born on April 19, 1927 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, and was the middle child of 3 sisters. Dolly graduated from Salem High School and attended Ohio State University. Following a long courtship she married Donald, her first grade Valentine sweetheart, on June 17, 1947 in Carey, Ohio. They started their life together as dairy farmers until 1954 when, with their first two children Diann and Dana, they moved to California to join the Carl's Jr. business. After settling in Anaheim they welcomed two more daughters, Doneta and Denise. Dolly was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church for 40 years. She was active in the Assistance League of Anaheim, Las Campanas, Guardian Angels, The Toscanini Chapter, Servite High School, Marywood High School, and Cornelia Connelly High School. After Donald died in 1992, Dolly decided to move to Newport Beach. She became an active member at Newport Mesa Assistance League and became a lifetime member. She was a parishioner at St. John Vianney's Chapel on Balboa Island for the past 19 years. In Dolly's free time she enjoyed coupon clipping, sewing, gardening, playing bridge, and cooking-but her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family. She was a strong and gracious lady, always bringing her sense of humor into your life. Her strength and sensibility will be greatly missed. Dolly leaves behind 4 children, Diann (Tim) LeVecke, Dana (Jeanne) Karcher, Doneta (Dave) Thomason, and Denise (Ross) Campbell. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 345 Talbert Ave, Huntington Beach, CA 92646 at 10:00am on Saturday, November 22, 2014. Visitation will be at Brown Colonial Mortuary, 204 West 17th Street, Santa Ana, CA 92706 between 5:00pm and 7:00pm on Friday November 21, 2014. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Mercy House, P.O. Box 1905, Santa Ana, CA 92702, (714) 836-7188. BROWN COLONIAL MORTUARY, 714/542-3949, assisting the family

Aunt Dolly was always a joy to be with. A great sense of humor and usually laughing. I enjoyed the times when we were all able to be together which paves my fondest memories. She is reunited with our other relatives that have passed. May God bless Aunt Dolly and all of my cousines. Love, Charlott (Hanzely) Hannaford. Buena Vista, CO.

I was very sadden to hear that Dolly had passed, I can still remember both Don and Dolly welcoming us into their home for a game of cards and always dessert. They made us feel very welcome and shared She played with Uncle Leo and us at the family reunion. Had a great time remembering old times. My prayers are with all of you and God bless.

Sad to read this. Dolly was our neighbor and she was very sweet to help our daughter with a report on her life a couple years ago.

I am so sorry for Dolly's passing. She was a wonderful person who I always enjoyed being with and I have fond memories of our time together. Dolly reminded me so much of my mother, her sister Rosemary in spirit as well as appearance; I will miss her deeply. I am so sorry for the loss my cousins feel but heartened knowing she is with Donald now.
