Charry Buckingham Obituary

Charry Jean Buckingham

Age 94 1/2, passed away August 21st with her three sons, Rodger, Thomas and John at her side. She is also survived by two granddaughters, Tracy Peterson and Christy Laufman, two great grand-daughters, Katrisse Brown and Sarina Brown and a great-grandson, Oliver Laufman and daughter-in law Dawn Buckingham.
She was born on January 29th, 1921 in Taft CA to Ray Hilbig and Frances Jean Turner. In 1924 she was adopted by Roy and Jennie Rockwell of Rosedale. They had a grocery store/gas station on Rosedale Highway. She was raised on goat's milk and learned to play piano. She attended Rosedale School and Taft High School.
She married Clifford Lewis Buckingham in July 1937 and had her three sons with him. The family went with Clifford to Basra, Iraq in 1948 as he worked in the petroleum industry as an oil exploration worker. She returned in 1949 and purchased a house in the Los Altos area of Long Beach.
She worked for Sears, General Telephone, Edgington Oil, Signal Oil and Gas and retired from ten years with the State of California EDD.
She enjoyed piano, gardening, golf, Desk & Derrick and was a volunteer at Community Hospital. She liked dogs, including her Shih Tzu Cookie and her Pug Yummy.
Family, friends and neighbors are welcome to attend her memorial at All Saints Church at 346 Termino Ave. in Long Beach at 10 AM on Tuesday, September 29th. There will be a pianist and refreshments. Please sign the guestbook at www.presstelegram.com/obits
